The Playfish Banker of Pet Society: Live from London
During my visit to the Playfish headquarters, I had a chance to talk with Catharina Mallet, the Product Manager of Pet Society. A Swedish-American with a background in finance, Mallet is relatively new to London (she's lived there about a year) and even newer to the gaming world (she joined Playfish about two months ago).
What does the Product Manager do, exactly? Mallet replied that she's "looking after the coordination process between the development and the art, and making sure that everything goes smoothly. But a big part of the job is like being 'the central banker' for the game. It's doing pricing, making sure that the exchange rates are right, and making sure that 'the taps and the sinks,' or the ways to earn money and the ways to spend money are in reasonable balance."
She admitted that sometimes, her team's predictions are off the mark, as in the case of the Limited Edition Peter Pan statue, which was pulled out of the shops due to lagging sales.
During our interview, Mallet also talked quite a bit about how the company relies on crowdsourcing and feedback from players to develop new features in the game. In the video below, she tells us about the Volcano Mask that was released after the Icelandic eruption.

FarmVille VP of Product Development Mark Skaggs on Time-Based Gameplay
Mark Skaggs, the Vice President of Product Development for Zynga speaks about the time-based gameplay of FarmVille.
He says that "In the world of farming you know that crops will take time to grow" so they made various timed crops while keeping lifestyle and farming preferences in mind. In other words, some farmers like to farm as soon as they wake up and plant their crops, knowing that they will harvest after work, others prefer one day or more crops because that is all the time that they can devote to farming. Having different time frames for each crops, allows farmers to choose which crops work best for them.
When deciding on "the wither mechanic" FarmVille developers found that when plants actually wither and turn brown it is disappointing but not as bad as animals "dying" like in FishVille, which is why FarmVille animals do not die, they just "run away" like FarmVille Dogs.
Which timed crops do you like to plant the most? Which crops work best for your farming lifestyle?

There's also a tab that includes your activities and on FarmVille.com there's also the Game Feed -- the most useful tab of all -- which consolidates all of your neighbors Wall Posts about the game and lets you help or collect bonus items with ease. The Game Feed is NOT available on the Facebook verson of FarmVille, which is a bummer, but maybe that will change in the future.

Treasure Isle animals no longer grant coins for petting
With all of the latest updates to Treasure Isle, including the release of the highly anticipated Fire God Mountain, a stealth change was deployed to the popular treasure game. A few short weeks ago, Treasure Isle made all animals pettable or interactable in exchange for coins. While a few players were thankful for another opportunity to earn coins in Treasure Isle, most players were overwhelmingly upset with the feature. According to a poll on the official forums, over 77% of voters hated the new feature because they felt it was cluttered and messy. For those who had many animals, having each harvestable animal donned with a big exclamation point was quite the eyesore.
Everyone can rejoice now, because this feature has been removed. Animals are no longer interactable for coins, and that makes me one happy player. Fire God Mountain gives out 10,000 coins per successful run, and that's just as much coin as I need to keep trucking through the maps.

Treasure Isle Fire God Mountain: Everything you need to know
Treasure Isle's Fire God Mountain has brought a whole new style and element of gameplay to everyone's favorite treasure game - mystery, tactics, competition, and suspense. It's a bit more complex than the rest of the game; once you enter the volcano the entire game changes. Even the interface changes to a dark shade of black and becomes more threatening and ominous. We're sure you have questions, so Games.com - The Blog has your answers in this definitive Fire God Mountain guide. Let's begin.
What is the Fire God Mountain?
Fire God Mountain is a special set of maps that are in a scary volcano surrounded by lava, imps, and other exciting surprises. When you're in the volcano, the entire game changes. Instead of trying to clear the whole map in search of all of the treasure - each map has only ONE treasure. The objective is to find the treasure in the least amount of digs possible. Using the hot and cold mechanism is the way to know if you're close to the treasure. A leaderboard tracks your progression compared to your friends, and you get more coins if you find the treasure early. Once you have found the treasure, you progress to the next map. There are 14 levels of the volcano, each one deeper than the next.
How to get to Fire God Mountain
The very first thing that everyone always wants to know is how to actually get to the volcano. Where is the Fire God Mountain? To enter the Fire God Mountain, you first need to have 5 SPF, which are an item that you can get from friends or buy from the Store. To actually find the volcano, open up your travel map and go to the Tiki Isles. From there, you will see the volcano in the top middle of the overland map. Click on it, and if you have the required amount of SPF-3000 you will be allowed in.
How to get SPF-3000 in Treasure Isle
Everyone starts out with 5 SPF, which makes entering the volcano for the first time easy as can be. You only need to pay to enter the first time that you log in to the volcano. Once you beat all levels of the volcano, you will have to pay more SPF in order to gain access again.
Treasure Isle SPF-3000
SPF-3000 has the following prices in the store:
1 SPF-3000: 3 Treasure Cash
8 Pack - 30 Treasure Cash
32 Pack - 50 Treasure Cash
Fire God Mountain Rewards
In addition to getting oodles of coins for completing the Fire God Mountain, you can also receive other items. This includes collection items such as the Volcanologist set which awards a Volcano Flag, special decorations for your home island, Treasure Cash, a permanent increase to your maximum energy, mangoes, and other rare items. You also get a trophy to display on your home island showing your score when you complete the island.
Other Fire God Mountain Tips and Hints
If the game tells you the treasure is "Nearby" after you dig, that means it is 2 tiles away. If it says "Really Close", that means that it is 1 tile away.
Make sure to eat your fruit
When you're searching for the treasure, click once and if you don't see a hint, click in an area far away. Keep clicking in areas that are not close to each other until you get a hint and can better track down the treasure.
Ask for fruit whenever you can. Lava mangoes regenerate more energy in volcanoes, so they are a great help in progressing through the volcano.
Replay the maps over and over again for coins. You will earn 10,000 coins for each time you finish the volcano.

They are receiving the free cash and do not know what has triggered the extra FarmVille dollars. So far, reports have been in increments of 5 FV$, 10 FV$, 20FV$, 22 FV$.
As everyone knows, farm cash is hard to come by, so it is unlikely that the big Z is intentionally rewarding random farmers with free cash.

EA jumped into the deep end of the microtransactions market this week by signing a deal with LiveGamer.
Zynga's long-rumored deal with Japan's Softbank finally went through to the tune of $150 million. The deal opens one of Japan's largest mobile networks to Zynga games.
Brick-and-mortar game retailer Gamespot made big waves in online gaming this week, first with a promotional giveaway for subsidiary Jolt Online then with a surprising purchase of social gaming network Kongregate.
Social gaming's growth has been good to Green Giant. It's also been good to the employees that make the games.
And finally this week, a bunch of washed-up wrestlers are making a social game. So there.

Happy Pets releases another multi-colored pet -- Random Dinos
Happy Pets Random Dino
Happy Pets creator CrowdStar must absolutely adore tie-dye. After releasing the Random Cat last month, the developer must have seen such success that they've decided to release more multicolored pets into the wild, Random Dinos.
At 100 Facebook Credits, or $10 USD, the Random Triceratops was released September 1. Today, for the same price, you can now randomize your very own T-Rex as well. These two Random Pets replace the former Random Cat, Dog and Horse in the Happy Pets store. Now that's odd, isn't it?
Happy Pets Random Triceratops generatorIt seems as if CrowdStar came to their senses and reduced the price of these Random Pets to 100 Facebook credits.
Compared to the Random Cat's whopping 150 Facebook credits, consider this a steal. However, one has to ask: Even at a lower price, is this still worth getting a unique pet? And why would CrowdStar remove the previous Random Pets instead of simply reducing their price accordingly?
Considering you'll just click the Random Pet button furiously until a color combination that tickles your fancy appears, what makes this different?

Cafe Life serves up free drinks and speedier leveling
Cafe Life is getting to be quite the popular cooking game, now boasting over 2 million monthly active players. As a response to player concerns and feedback, this week the developers have made leveling easier in the game. One big frustrating with Cafe Life was how slow it took to progress at the higher levels, so we're happy to see this change.
The new changes that were released are the following: Less experience is now required at the higher levels, some dishes were adjusted to provide more experience for cooking them, and added two additional coffee machine unlocks at levels 36 and 45 so players can earn coins and XP faster. We're sure that players are loving this update.
In additional Cafe Life news, five new drinks were added to the game today.
Vanilla Float
Strawberry Bubble Tea
Cookies n' Creme Frappe
Cinnamon Dolce Latte
Lime Soda
These new drinks are spread out over a variety of levels, so there is sure to be something here for aspiring bakers in Cafe Life to create on their stoves.

Three Facebook games that should be on your radar this week
Bubble Town: Party Planet's gameplay
Social media app tracker Appdata just published this week's Top Twenty Gainers in the social game space. In other words, these are games that should be on your radar as they could get popular rather quickly.
Not to mention a good amount of these titles break the mold of the traditional--yet extremely effective--business, city or farm management games. Let's take a look at some of the top, unique games that are gaining traction this week.
Lucky Train is coming into the station.
In first place right now is Lucky Train by A Bit Lucky, a game that tasks you with managing a train station by allowing trains to come into your station and loading them with passengers. You can expand your rail empire by adding new routes, connecting routes with friends and adding houses to your county surrounding the station. Think of it as a new twist on the average city management game.
The Price is Right Beta
This week's second place game is inspired by one of your favorite game shows, The Price is Right by Ludia Inc. While it's still in beta, there's no reason why this gem couldn't become one of Facebook's more popular games. You start in the audience and are given five chances to become a part of the contestant's row. Everything happens in real time and games will fill regardless of how many friends you have playing the game. If you fail to get down to Contestant's Row, you can still spin the Big Wheel for extra cash. You can even win a trip to a taping of the real show in Los Angeles. It's always a plus Bubble Town: Party Planet Logowhen your in-game exploits result in real rewards.
Lastly in fourth place, Bubble Town: Party Planet by I-Play shows promise in that it requires much more skill than most social games. Bubble Town plays a lot like classic titles such as Snood or Bubble Bobble, but allows you to share your achievements. If you're looking for a title that won't require your constant attention, then look no further than Bubble Town: Party Planet.
So, there you have it. Three games that will most definitely break the doldrums of tending to the crops and baking cakes.

Mafia Wars San Juan fighting event -- It's on (for most)
After a small launch hiccup, Mafia Wars San Juan is, indeed, on... for most, anyway. If you don't have access this new fighting event yet, it will be rolling out slowly to everyone.
Much like the Beat the Feds event from a few weeks ago, you'll take on four tough Puerto Rican bosses. You can call on help from mafia members to fight each boss and after they're beat, you'll score a mastery item, along with XP and Vegas chips. Each boss can be beat three times, and each time you beat them, the mastery item from that boss will gain higher stats. Once you beat all of the bosses, you will earn another rare item -- the Mastery Outlander.
mafia wars san juan loot
Senor Carazco: Throwing knives (Weapon) 30 A, 43 D
General Vargas: MC Gloss 350 (Vehicle) 57 A, 95 D
Don Ramirez: Night Vision Viewer (Armor) 106 A, 71 D
Big Lou: Red Piranha (Animal) 110 A, 82 D
Mastery Reward: Master Outlander (Special loot) 112 A, 58 D
Oh yeah, and there's a time limit. The entire event will only last for 10 days, and once you start to fight a boss, you only have a certain amount of time to beat them.
Before you start, be warned -- the difficulty level on this fighting event has been upped considerably. The first boss, Senor Crazco, has a health of 10,000 (the first Feds boss had 900 health) -- so make sure you've got a large supply of stun guns, shivs, grenades health and help from lots of all of your most powerful mafia members. (Since I have a fairly low health, I'm relying heavily on stun guns in particular to beat these bosses.)

Gold Miner Special Edition gets a facelift with Gold Miner World
Gold Miner World logo
Gold Miner Special Edition creator Grab LLC recently brought its casual flash game to Facebook in the form of Gold Miner World. This new take on the original title features much more impressive visuals and the social elements we've all come to know and love.
Continue reading to find out what makes this revision unique.
Gold Miner World gameplay
In this Facebook-branded beta edition, you're taken to real world locales like Arizona, California and Mexico to search for gold and treasure. The gameplay is nearly identical to its predecessor, tasking you with timing the strikes of your claw just right to grab the gold. You can also buy dynamite which can destroy undesirable loot like coal and rocks that will snag up the line. The goal is to snag as much gold as possible before the timer runs out, which can be tough if you get miss too many times or grab one too many duds.
With the money you make, you can buy upgrades like increased pull strength and laser guided claws. As you progress, you can share your progress and achievements as well as gifts to friends. And don't worry too much about grabbing too many bones, rocks and coal. Gold Miner World's unique crafting feature makes use of those otherwise rubbish items.
Check it out here and let us know what you think of it.

Happy Pets' Green Chameleon adds several dashes of color to your room
While new pets in Happy Pets feel like they're a dime (well, more than a dime) a dozen these days, today CrowdStar shows its creative colors today with the Green Chameleon pet. It might seem odd that other color varieties of this pet have yet to be mentioned, but that's because this pet has all of them.
The Green Chameleon, which can be bought outright for just 48 Facebook Credits ($4.80 USD) or won in a slots min game that costs 8 Facebook Credits per spin, changes its color at will. After watching the cold-blooded little cutie for a while, it's obvious that this lizard has that color spectrum down.
Each attempt at the slots mini game will have a chance at scoring you one of five decorations to go with the Chameleon you'll win for getting all five items. However, you're not guaranteed a new item every spin, so if you want to take the straight and narrow to your new scaly friend, just put up the five bucks. Though, you can buy the whole set for 198 Facebook Credits, or $19.80, but that's just crazy talk.

FarmVille's Oktoberfest Festival Wheel spins you right round and round
One of the more interesting items included in FarmVille's Oktoberfest event is the Festival Wheel, which has a pretty nifty animation. For 48 Farm Cash, or around $9 USD, you'll get a massive Ferris Wheel that spins endlessly with neon lights flashing and flickering. Who knew FarmVille could handle smooth, pseudo-3D graphics (wait just a second...)?

All of these new decorations will go great with your homestead once you complete the marriage goals, though that's not necessary. I mean, a grown man or woman riding a rocking horse alone would raise a few red flags, don't you think? Anyway, here are the new kiddie items you'll find in the market:Rocking Horse
Rocking Horse: 2500 coins and 150 Wood, Rewards 35 XP
Fancy Crib: 30 Horseshoes, Rewards 180 XP
Little Red Wagon: 25 Horseshoes and 100 Wood, Rewards 150 XP
Old Time Camera: 1100 coins and 10 Wood, Rewards 11 XP
Alphabet Blocks: 1500 coins and 50 Wood, Rewards 15 XP

It's okay, we know all you want is that animated Rocking Horse, so splurge a little.

FrontierVille Aunt Missions: Help your relatives in 'der Old Country'
Log into FrontierVille and you willl find (or will soon find) a hilarious letter from your Aunt from 'der Old Country,' who asks you for help in some form of pidgeon English.
That kicks off a series of five missions where you will grow food and harvest animals to make sure your Aunt and three cousins won't suffer the fate of "eating our shoes this winter." I've eaten a few shoes* in my time and, let me tell you, I don't recommend it to anyone.
Before you go any further down the page, this mission requires you to buy and tend lots and lots of potatoes, so put your potato farmin' hat on before venturing any further.
Special thanks to BlackestWinter for the image.

Since you can click on animals more than once, you might need to feed a friend's cow first, then click on it again to 'tend' to it. That means it'll take a few extra clicks to get the job done, but no one ever said pioneer life was easy.

Restaurant City sees release of traditional Halloween item set
While the past few weeks have seen a slew of new Halloween-themed items being released in Playfish's Restaurant City (both Gothic/Vampire and Mad Scientist themes have been represented), this week sees the game going old-school, with all of the orange, black, pumpkin and gore filled goodness that just screams Halloween.
Follow us behind the break to see the newly added items.
Not only are new items available to decorate the interior of your restaurant, but you won't want to forget about theming the outside for Halloween as well. You can now transform your restaurant into a suburban home, complete with front porch and pumpkins via several items in a set. The individual windows even let you put lighted pumpkins out for display - how quaint!
A second outdoor item theme will allow you to transform your restaurant into a spooky dungeon, with fences, an iron door, creepy trees and halloween lights. Don't forget to add the Witch Hunter Mob to the sidewalk outside to really complete the look!
Moving indoors, you can build an entire Ghost Train set, with Ghost Train Stoves, Ghost Train Chairs and Ghost Train Tables. Give your train a path to travel on via Train Track floor tiles (corners and straight pieces sold separately). Other items include large banquet tables that serve six people at once (and increase customer patience), pumpkin lamps, pumpkin piles (think champagne glass towers, only with pumpkins), Halloween themed paintings, themed columns, autumn leaves, fences, party balloons, tombstones, devil and black cat figurines, and even a Sink and Toilet o'Doom (we hate to think of how these items earned their dreadful name).
Rounding out this week's theme are two costumes for your avatar - one in the form of a Skeleton, and the other being the Joker from the Dark Knight.
For a complete look at all of the newly available items, check out the official Restaurant City Blog. And remember, if you don't see the items in your game yet, keep checking back as they should be released to everyone shortly.

Restaurant City Halloween Mystery Boxes: Proving one Halloween item set is never enough
Tonight has been absolutely huge for Playfish's Restaurant City, as the game has seen the release of new Halloween-themed recipes, and a traditional set of Halloween decorations, containing pumpkins, ghosts, and all of the decorations you would expect from a properly themed party. That isn't enough for this developer, however, as Playfish has added yet another feature to their Halloween extravaganza in the form of Halloween Mystery Boxes.
Meet us behind the break to find out how to get your hands on one of these boxes.
The Halloween Mystery Box feature is actually a bit more complicated than it might outwardly appear. There are three series of items to collect: Paranormal (vampires and werewolves), Witchy Wonder (witches and ghosts), and Trick or Treat (costumed royalty and pop culture references). Each series contains six different items to collect, and each Mystery Box you purchase contains a single item from one of the three series.
Once you complete one of the three series, you'll be rewarded with that particular series' completion bonus. For collecting all six of the Paranormal items, for instance, you'll earn the Paranormal Stove, which cooks food 30% faster than a traditional stove.
Taking things one step further, if you can collect each and every figurine (18 in all), you'll not only earn the three completion bonuses for finishing the three individual sets, but you'll receive the feature's ultimate prize: the Trick or Treat Monster House, an "arcade machine" item that generates 1,000 coins every four hours, and adds 3 points to your restaurant's maximum popularity rating.
Mystery Boxes can be purchased in three quantities - a single box costs 10 Playfish Cash, a bundle of six costs 50 Playfish Cash and a bundle of 13 boxes costs 100 Playfish Cash. This is one of the game's most expensive features to date, but luckily, Playfish says that you "shouldn't" receive duplicate items until you have completed your set, so at least that takes away some of the worry of potentially wasting real world money on duplicates.
To see images of the rest of the items up for grabs, check out the official Restaurant City Blog. Happy spooking!

Cafe World Halloween Lightning Stove: Everything you need to know
While it may have looked like Zynga had finished releasing all of its Halloween themed goodies in Cafe World, that assumption was proven wrong tonight, with the release of the Halloween Lightning Stove.
Meet us behind the break for complete details on how to make one of these cute little stoves yours.
First things first, the Halloween Lightning Stove can be purchased outright from the store for 40 Cafe Cash, if you'd rather skip the following steps. If you're one that's saving your Cafe Cash for other purposes however, there most certainly is a free method.
Each and every player has access to a free Halloween Lightning Stove frame in the game's store. If you've already placed the maximum number of stoves into your cafe for your level, you'll need to remove one of the stoves to place this new frame. Once placed, you'll see a percentage appear above the stove, alerting you to the progress of its construction.
Clicking on the cute pumpkin frame lets you go about building the stove proper. You'll need to collect 40 items in total - 15 Haunted Books, 10 Candy Coils, 10 Scary Switches, and 5 Tricky Tubes.
Each item has an "Ask for More" button associated with it. Clicking on this button takes you to a reverse of the game's free gifts page, where you can send item requests to your Cafe World friends so that they can send you that particular ingredient. It's the same as sending a person a free gift, in that it will show up in their gift requests page, but they'll be helping you, rather than you helping them.
If at any time you'd like to stop waiting for friends to help you, you can complete the project by purchasing the remaining ingredients for Cafe Cash. The Haunted Books and Candy Coils cost 1 Cafe Cash each, while the Scary Switches cost 2 Cafe Cash, and the Tricky Tubes cost 3 Cafe Cash. This is definitely a more expensive way of completing the project though, as purchasing each ingredient individually would cost you 60 Cafe Cash in total. At that point, depending on how many ingredients your friends had already sent you, you might be better off simply buying the completed stove outright from the store.
Either way, once you finish the Lightning Stove, you'll be able to use it as you would any other Super or Lightning Stove. It cooks food 10% faster than a traditional stove, and will allow you to cook food in a single click, rather than preparing ingredients the old fashioned (read: time consuming) way.

Cafe World Halloween Sale: Cafe Cash, expansions, spices and decorations discounted
From now until Halloween, Zynga is throwing a spooky Halloween sale in Cafe World, allowing you to pick up Cafe Cash and coin packages, spice bundles, and even cafe expansions on a discount.
Cafe Cash and coin bundles are marked down at least 10%, with the highest bundle of 1,250 Cafe Cash now costing a little more than $130 US, rather than the $160 normal price tag. If you've ever considered buying such a large bundle before, now would definitely be the time (a $30 savings is nothing to scoff at).
As for spices and expansions, they have been marked down a full 25%, allowing you to reach the largest cafe expansion for 1 million coins or stock up on Instant Thymes for as little as 25 Cafe Cash. Many decorative items have also been placed on sale, but there hasn't been a particular percentage given for how much the prices have changed.
Remember, this is a limited time sale, so be sure to take advantage of these prices while they last!

FarmVille-addicted mom shakes baby to death
Alexandra V. Tobias, a 22-year-old mother from Jacksonville, FL, plead guilty to second degree murder in the death of her three-month-old son. She was angry because her child was crying while she was playing FarmVille on her computer.
Tobias says she shook her baby while angry, then smoked a cigarette to calm herself down before shaking him again. The baby may or may not have hit his head on the computer while she was shaking him. The incident happened earlier this year on January 20.
Internet addiction is a very real crisis, and games such as FarmVille are designed to be addictive in order to get players to spend real-life money on them. Unfortunately, sad incidents come out of addictions quite frequently and it's people like Tobias who give Facebook games a bad reputation.
Alexandra Tobias will be sentenced in December and could be looking at 25 years to life in prison.
FarmVille-maker Zynga has not released an official statement about this tragedy.

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Autumn Cow and Autumn Calf
Tonight we have yet another set of unreleased sneak peek FarmVille images. This adorable Autumn Cow and Autumn Calf have been brought to our attention. We've been seeing a ton of Thanksgiving and Autumn items in FarmVIlle this season, and we're sure there are a few more releases before Autumn is over.
As usual, these items may or may not actually make it into FarmVille, but generally we have a pretty good track record when it comes to unreleased items.

FarmVille unreleased Christmas items
FarmVille let loose a ton of unreleased items tonight, and it seems that everywhere we look there is something new to report about. Thanksgiving hasn't even arrived yet, but we are already excited about this winter Christmas items. There are two snow globes, including a cow snow globe and a polar bear snow globe. There is also a Winter Reindeer, an Candycane Pony and a Candycane Foal, a Pinto Horse and Pinto Foal, and a Silkie Chicken.
We're getting our first glimpse of a holiday costume with the new Reindeer Costume. Finally, there is a Nutcracker that is the perfect decoration for Christmas.
As always, these items are not guaranteed to show up in FarmVille, but we suspect that they'll be in the game within a few weeks. After all, 'tis the reason for the season!

Smurfs' Village ousts Angry Birds as top grossing iPhone game
Smurf's Village
Smurfs' Village by Capcom has officially brought down Angry Birds from its ivory roost as the number one grossing game in Apple's App Store, Mashable reports. However, it becomes slightly less remarkable after looking at one simple fact: the game is 100 percent to download. But that doesn't explain how the game made so much cash so quickly.
Microtransactions. Now, that's a lot of smurfberries (the game's paid currency). They make the social game world go round on the web, and it looks like that rule still firmly applies to mobile social games. Like most social games, paying up in virtual currency--in this case smurfberries--speeds up the playing process (i.e. the growth of crops in this game) and can be bought in bushels of 50 for $4.99 to a wheelbarrow of one thousand for an insane $59.99.
However, Pocket Gamer's guess for the game's sudden growth spurt of money trees is due to kids making inadvertent purchases in the game--players can purchase anything they want for 15 minutes after the username and password is entered on the iPhone. If Pocket Gamer is right, it probably played out a little like this: Mom enters her credentials so that little Jimmy can get his Smurf on. Little Jimmy wants his crops faster and finds that he can buy these magical berries that will make them grow right now. Ignoring the foreign symbols we adults commonly know as dollar signs, Jimmy buys hundreds of dollars worth of smurfberries on Mom's credit card. And boom, Jimmy has the best Smurf farm in town, but Mom's credit card bill looks as if she put a down payment on a house... a Smurf house. Despite this hypothetical scenario, our guess as to how Smurfs' Village dethroned Angry Birds is as good as yours (and Pocket Gamer's). Unintentional or not, it looks like free-to-play, virtual goods-driven social gaming just became the de facto winner on iPhone.

Cafe World: Catering is now new and improved
Catering Business
Though it hasn't gotten any easier. Zynga has made improvements to Cafe World's Catering system, allowing for more control of your jobs and, more importantly, your crew. A new "Catering Business" menu has been added for those who have completed the first job. From here, you can manage all of your current jobs with some brand new changes to how things work. It seems that instead of having to get at least two stars to unlock the next order, you'll now accrue Catering Points for finishing jobs in addition to Cafe Points. These points can be used to unlock any job at any time, but some orders require more points than others, naturally.
Finally, you can see exactly how much each member of your crew has contributed to the job displayed as a percentage and broken down to every last dish. Better yet, instead of giving players a set amount of potential crew members for each job, players can now add their own crew members by asking their friends for outfits. Completing one set of gear unlocks another crew slot to use. While it wasn't mentioned by Zynga, we imagine there is a cap on how many total crew members you can recruit. The update has released one additional crew slot, but more can be purchased using Cafe Cash.
But here's the real clincher: you'll soon be able to fire crew members. Got a lazy chef that's bringin' you down? Boot that bum to the curb and get someone with more dedication. Hey, I know these are our friends, but this is business, people.
